Jeremy Kirkham is a snow and landscape professional who has spent the last two years challenging the myths and misconceptions surrounding liquid de-icing.
In December 2023, Jeremy knew very little about liquids—only what he had heard: “They don’t work in Ottawa,” “Our snow is too wet,” “It’s too cold in Canada.” Like many in the industry, he believed the rumours.
That changed when he attended an East Coast Facilities event in Pennsylvania, where industry leaders Robert Miller and Doug Brown introduced him to Jordan Smith—known as the “Godfather of Liquids,” with over 14 years of experience. That meeting was the turning point that launched Jeremy into his liquids journey.
In January 2024, he joined Clintar, where he began hands-on learning and real-world application of liquids. Over the past two years, Jeremy has tested, studied, and implemented liquid strategies, learning the truths and myths first-hand. He is passionate about sharing knowledge, helping companies understand the pros and cons, and showing how liquids can be adopted responsibly—even starting small with equipment many contractors already own.
Today, Jeremy is preparing to take his journey even further by producing his own brine in 2025. His mission is to educate, debunk misconceptions, and prove that liquids do work in Canada—when applied properly.

Liquid de-icing is having a moment — lower material use, faster coverage, and better storm response — but there’s still a lot of bad info out there. Some people think liquids are always more corrosive, that they only work for pre-treating, or that you need to spend big on trucks and sprayers to even start. That mix of half-truths is exactly what we’ll clear up.
You’ll see real scenarios where liquids win (large lots, repeat clients, long events) and where regular rock salt or treated salt still makes sense. You’ll also see how newer spraying approaches help material stay where you put it, cutting waste and environmental impact.
